Snow Trip

Well, I finally took the girls to the snow. I can't believe we have never gone to play in the snow. We headed up towards Flagstaff and stopped in Munds Park at the golf course. The snow was thicker than we were prepared for, oops! We didn't have the right snow shoes so the girls didn't last as long as I had hoped for. We still had fun though. My sister and I ended up going sledding down the side of the 17 but we couldn't talk the girls into getting back out of the car. I think their socks were frozen to their feet, Arizona girls for you :)

We are working on getting the right attire so we can try again. I did pull icicles off the roof which were a really big hit. They thought it was so neat to actually hold an icicle. Lauren managed to make a snow angel while Hailey made more of a snow thud.

Guess we will have to try again, the right way this time...

Feed My Starving Children

We were so fortune to take our Girl Scout Troop to an event called Feed My Starving Children which packages dry food to send to third world countries. It was an amazing event that I am so glad I got to share with my girls. My friend invited us to join her church with this event. It changes the way you think about truly being blessed for what you have and what the word I'm Starving really means.

I am still amazed at how much fun all the girls had and the comments they made about never saying they are starving ever again and how much they wanted to do this again. It makes me so proud to be mom and Girl Scout leader to these girls.

We are hoping that the organization FMSC chooses to make Arizona a permanent location because we all can't wait to go back.

Lauren's new love

Lauren has found a new love. She has taken up playing the harp and has been taking lessons every week since September. She is loving it and doing very well. She and her harp teacher have a great time together and we are very impressed with how far she has progressed. She is still nervous to play for other people but is getting more and more comfortable all the time.

This month she increases her lessons to every week for an hour. My next goal is to videotape her and post it for everyone :)

Girl Scout Day at the Farm

At the beginning of November our Girl Scout Troop held their first event. Brownie Day at the Farm. What a fun day. We love going out to the working dairy farm in Mesa. The girls got to ride the hayride and learn all about working dairy farms, how milk gets to the table, tasting butter, milk and ice cream, petting the rescued animals they care for and of course the highlight of seeing a few baby calf's being born.

Our troop is moving forward with the next event at the farm for Daisy Girl Scouts in January. Hailey and her troop are excited to have an event just for them.

Disneyland Here We Come...

Well it's been a long time since I've blogged so I am trying to make up for lost time. In October during fall break the four of us went for a 4 day trip to Disneyland. We had so much fun. It has been so long since the 4 of us had taken a family trip and we enjoyed every minute (except the sore feet from all the walking). We averaged 10 - 12 hours a day at Disney squeezing in every second we could.

Hailey is our daredevil wanting to go on every roller coaster she could. Her favorite ride was Tower of Terror in California Adventure and Space Mountain in Disneyland. They weren't Lauren's favorite but she was a trooper and tried every ride at least once.

To make the trip even more special the girls dance studio was performing with their Acroteam while we were there so we got to see the girls perform and spend some time with all the families. The girls thought it was really neat to see their friends at Disney and be able to ride a few rides with them.

Amazing what a few years does for going to Disney. Last time we went was a few years ago and the girls could barely go on anything. This time was a blast!
