I Survived ......

I officially survived my first sleepover birthday party as the mom! Lauren is turning 8 this weekend and we had 7 girls sleepover for her party. Since we usually average 25 kids at her party because of all her friends it was hard to decide what to do. So we only invited kids in 2nd grade that she is in class with or at school.
The girls made bracelets, painted Horses or Unicorns, danced, did gymnastics, played boggle, played Life, played outside, and ate tons :) It was such a beautiful morning that we ate breakfast outside.
The girls all piled in my room, poor Shawn got moved to Lauren's room. They all crammed together on the floor. I was so glad they all had a good time, no one was homesick but they are all TIRED today :)

Busy busy weekend...

What a busy but fun weekend. With no school on Friday we took the opportunity to go to Disney on Ice and took the Light Rail, something we have been wanting to do. For $3.75 all three of us got to ride there and back, what a great use of transportation.
On Saturday we went to the Hale theater to see Sleeping Beauty and as usual we weren't dissapointed. They do such a wonderful job with live theater. We took 7 girls with us and ended the morning with a group lunch at Oregano's. Nothing like good friends and good food!

Easter morning the Easter Bunny came to visit our house and brought great baskets with sunglasses, a shirt, a chocolate bunny and a toy (plus some jelly beans). Then off to church to the easter egg hunt organized my myself and my fun neighbor Suzanne! We had over 300 eggs and probably could have had another 200! More kids than we thought turned up but everyone seemed happy and to have enjoyed themselves. Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs

One of the girls favorite activites! Dying Easter Eggs. The funny part is they love hard boiled eggs so they cracked and eaten within an hour of making them. We originally dyed a dozen then had to go get another dozen since they were gone before Easter. As of tonight we only have 3 eggs left. Maybe off to the store to buy more....

Ostrich festival

On Sunday my aunt and I took all the kids to the annual Ostrich Festival. What a fun day! I wish we had more time and the kids had more energy :) We saw the ostrich, emu, camel races, the pig races, a clown show and took a picture with a sea lion! This was new this year, they had a sea lion show and you could take your picture with a sea lion. It was so cute! To top off the trip everyone got a snow cone, except mom :) The hardest part was deciding what flavor to pick, they had about 30 choices. Although we kept seeing ostrich burgers for sale I couldn't bring myself to even take a bite, especially after petting them and watching them race.
One of these years we will bite the bullet and get the all day ride pass, it's expensive but there are tons of rides and you could easily spend the entire day there!

Geocaching

We finally tried our hand at Geocaching. Our first was a flop :( then the second was a flop :( third time was a charm :) We all set off with our GPS in hand walking through a parking lot, found our coordinates and found the cache. I still can't believe that there are over a hundered within a few miles of our house. Hopefully our next outing we can find a cache box so the girls can get a trinket out. What a cool outdoor treasure hunt! The girls had so much fun.

Here is Hailey showing off our GPS! Don't you love the pose :)

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss...

I just thought this was so cute! They made these hats today at preschool in honor of Dr. Seuss.
